Hawaii Kai is a peaceful and idyllic neighborhood with a unique culture that sets it apart from other communities on Oahu. With easy access around the neighborhood via Kalanianaole Highway and its proximity to Kahala and Waialae neighborhoods, Hawaii Kai is a suburban core with its own marina flair. Situated close to Sandy Beach, Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and Maunalua Bay Beach Park, the community is attractive to those who love the water and all its encompassing sports: surfing, snorkeling, paddling, boating or kayaking. The neighborhood is nicely varied with townhomes, condos and single-family homes for sale – many of them with boat decks for easy water access.
A community of 630 single, multi-family apartments and condominiums, The Peninsula offers a stretch of waterfront marina views in five different residential living spaces. Living here gives you complete access to family-friendly amenities like picnic tables, a party room, an exercise room, two pools, wading pools and boat docks. Here are the five residential living spaces:
Hawaii Kai’s original first luxury condo, Mount Terrace has been consistently maintained and upgraded throughout its four decades to maintain its resort feel. Each unit is more than 1,600 square feet large, with two bedrooms and three different floor plans. There are floor-to-ceiling windows and the views are hard to beat: towering mountains, the peaceful marina and sweeping ocean views. Amenities include 24/7 security, party room, exercise room, BBQ areas, sauna, racquetball court, pool, a garden and much more. Each unit comes with two assigned parking spaces, central A/C and storage.
Located near the entry to Hawaii Kai, these townhomes have their own private community feel and hosts mountain views for each of its three and four bedroom units. The living space is impressive, with an open kitchen, spacious living room and an enclosed lanai that leads right onto the deck and a boat dock. That means you can pull your boat right outside your home and embark onto the ocean whenever your heart desires. Units range from 1,332 to 1,517 square feet. There’s space under the deck for water equipment. Residences have two parking spaces near the front gate and amenities include a recreation center, pool and guest parking.
The Koko Isle embodies exclusivity as a waterfront residence. People who choose to make Koko Isle their home have their own bridge to cross before coming home to one of 124 units spread out across 23 buildings. Some are directly on the water and are a mix of 2,3 and 4 bedroom units in one and two-story configurations. There are 1.5 to 3 baths and a variety of floor plans. With the option to have dock space, you can run errands to Koko Marina Center via boat, without fighting traffic, or ride your boat to a park or beach for immediate water play.
These townhomes sit on an artificial peninsula in a gated community. Waterfront units have its own personal dock and those on the interior have a community dock for use. The boat deck allows you to make a run to nearby Costco without fighting traffic or go exploring the ocean. These Hawaii Kai townhomes for sale are roomy – most of them are three bedroom units ranging from 1,164 to 1,550 square feet. The four bedrooms have three bathrooms and sprawl out to 1,557 square feet. Each unit has a small garden space or lanai.
Marina Palms has 54 attached marina front townhomes with eight 2-story buildings along the marina. Built in 1966, the Marina Palms ranges from 2 to 3 bedroom units. Amenities include a pool, hot tub, recreation area, boat slips and easy marina access. The common areas are beautifully landscaped with grass and palm trees. The two bedroom and one bath floor plan have a two-story layout with no neighbors above. They have 888 square feet of interior space, plus additional space via a ground floor courtyard and an upstairs covered lanai. The three bedroom, two bath floor plans comes out to about 1,006 square feet – some have an additional space via a large courtyard and all have lanai space. Units have the option to enclose the lanai to increase living space. Each unit comes with two open parking stalls.
The Villa life means comfortable, spacious living in a townhome that’s situated right at the front of the marina. Built in 1970, the Villa Marina has 19 units total and residents can enjoy the pool along with access to the marina. These two-story townhomes are spread out across four buildings across the Hawaii Kai Marina, on the corner of Kawaihae Street and Kawaihae Place. Each unit is uniform in floor plan, with the same three bedroom, 2.5 bath layout with no upstairs neighbors. With 1,452 square feet of living space, an additional 220 square feet of open patio off the living room, and an 88 square foot covered upstairs lanai, these are truly expansive homes.
Conveniently placed near the heart of Hawaii Kai and all its neighborhood amenities, Hale Ka Lae is the epitome of comfortable and elegant living with expansive floor plans, beautiful views and resort-like amenities.
Not to be confused with the Colonies at The Peninsula, the Colony Marina are spacious 4-bedroom units with boat docks right outside your living room. Amenities include a pool, recreation area and marina access. All units have a kitchen, living room and one bedroom with a full bath and a private courtyard all on the ground level. Upstairs, you can find the master bedroom suite and two smaller bedrooms. Nearly all the units are about 1,914 square feet and have two covered parking stalls.
Built in 1972, Kaimala Marina fits the description of many marina townhomes with its proximity to the water and the option for a boat dock. What sets Kaimala Marina apart is its charming and almost rustic retreat feel. The architecture is reminiscent of old-school Hawaii with lush tropical greenery and carefully maintained landscape. There are large-scale lanais for outdoor dining with private storage and patrolled security. Compared to other homes, Kaimala Marina has a relatively affordable price point. The one bedroom, one bath units are at about 700 square feet and the larger four bedroom, three bath units go up to 1555 square feet. There’s also a pool, jacuzzi and recreation area. For water enthusiasts, the location is hard to beat with snorkeling available at Hanauma Bay and surfing at Sandy Beach. There are many grocery stores, a farmers market, schools and hikes nearby, too.
Every resident who lives at Mawaena Kai can enjoy a quiet townhome located right on the marina. Your windows showcase the unbeatable views of water by your backyard. Upstairs units have a waterfront lanai while those on street level have a grand patio to enjoy the outdoors with marina views. Amenities include a resident manager, boat dock, a patio and storage. The location of Mawaena Kai on 7007 Hawaii Kai Drive also allows you to be a little farther away from Kalanianaole Highway, cutting down on noisy traffic sounds. Units go up to 1,146 square feet for two bedrooms, and 1406 square feet for three bedroom units. With high ceilings, abundant breeze and a secured, gated community, living at Mawaena Kai is pleasant and serene.
